MINUTE entry before the Honorable Jeremy C. Daniel: The plaintiff's motion for miscellaneous relief 93 is denied. The plaintiff alleges that Bishop & Diehl has refused to release funds collected by on the plaintiff's behalf and has failed to account for all funds collected. The plaintiff seeks an order requiring Bishop & Diehl to release and account for the plaintiff's funds. The Court has no jurisdiction over the plaintiff's claim. The Court entered judgment in January 2025 67 and did not retain jurisdiction over the plaintiff's claims. See, e.g., Goyal v. Gas Tech. Inst., 718 F.3d 713, 717 (7th Cir. 2013) ("Supplemental jurisdiction does not extend, however, to attorney fee disputes after the case has been dismissed and jurisdiction has been relinquished."); see also Nichols v. Longo, 22 F.4th 695, 699 (7th Cir. 2022) ("[O]ur jurisdiction does not extend to a state law contract dispute after the original litigation has ended, even if the dispute is between a party and his attorney."). This dispute between the plaintiff and the law firm its former counsel, or at least the law firm that employed the plaintiff's former counsel, implicates either a separate cause of action or a professional conduct issue; neither of which are appropriate for this Court to hear.
